If you are heading to Disneyland in April, you may be wondering what you can look forward to. We are sharing everything you can look forward to at Disneyland Resort in a typical April, from special events, to parades and shows, and even talking about expected crowd levels. Plus, what will Disneyland have open in April of 2021.
Disneyland in April 2021
So much has happened over the last year. In March of 2020, Disneyland closed due to the pandemic. And while Walt Disney World opened in July of 2020, Disneyland has remained closed. But now, we have something to look forward to.
Disneyland hopes to reopen in late April 2021!!!!
This is very exciting news, and you can read more about it in my Disneyland Reopening Guide but let’s talk about what April 2021 will look like.
April 2021 has A Touch of Disney
Disneyland opened Downtown Disney to guests in July 2020, and since then has extended to Buena Vista Street in California Adventure.
When Disneyland closed, we had barely started the 2020 California Adventure Food and Wine Festival. So March and April normally is full of food, entertainment, and more. I was sad we wouldn’t have that this year.
Thankfully, Disney also knew how much people love their food festivals and came up with Touch Of Disney, a food festival that is a ticketed event inside of DCA. This festival runs March 18- April 19, 2021. Tickets sold out on the first day they were open, but if you want to go, keep an eye out as sometimes Disney adds tickets to these events at a later date.
The biggest news is that Disneyland plans to reopen in late April 2021. I will update this post as soon as we have an official date. Please note that this is dependent on the local case numbers continuing to look good.
Want to know when the official date is announced for reopening? Text MICKEY to 31996 and I will send out a text alert once we have the official date.
Upon reopening, we expect to see reduced capacity, reservations and more. I cover all of this in my Disneyland is Reopening Guide.

April in Disneyland – Spring Breaks
Normally, Disneyland in April means spring break at Disneyland. With that Disneyland often has a special ticket offer. Last year, the offer was an amazing deal on 3-day Disneyland tickets for kids ages 3-9. (The good news is that with the closure, Disneyland has extended this ticket deal through December 2021.) Of course, I suggest booking through my partners at Get Away Today to ensure you get even more savings.
Need to re-book a Trip? Here is when we suggest going!
If you had a vacation booked during the closure at Disneyland, and are now hoping to rebook, here is what you need to know.
If you booked through Get Away Today, you are taken care of!
If you booked your vacation via Get Away Today, know that they are taking care of their customers and being proactive. If your vacation has been affected by the closure, they will automatically issue you a credit to your account so that you can rebook your vacation. They also can help you switch your vacation to Walt Disney World if you don’t want to wait. You can do this by calling 855-GET-AWAY. Be sure to mention This Crazy Adventure Called Life so they can verify any discounts for my readers are applied.
Not able to rebook, and need money back? Contact them via phone, or preferably Facebook message, and they will work with you.
Why should you reschedule your Disneyland vacation instead of cancel?
One reason you should reschedule your vacation instead of canceling is that your tickets (with newly extended expiration dates) have locked-in prices. This is especially true for those who locked in the prices before the February price increase (on both tickets and MaxPass prices).
When to visit Disneyland Resort
When you rebook your vacation, you may be wondering when you should rebook your vacation for. At this time, Disneyland Resort is accepting reservations beginning June 1, 2020.
With that in mind, I definitely suggest planning for a late summer, fall, or holiday visit to Disneyland to hopefully have the parks fully open. I have a feeling we will see a phased opening, or “soft opening” of the parks at first.
Halloween Time At Disneyland
Halloween is a great time to visit Disneyland. In fact it is one of my family’s favorite times to visit. From ride overlays, to specialty food items, and of course, Oogie Boogie Bash, there is a lot to do at Disneyland at Halloween Time.
Halloween at Disneyland runs around the second week of September through October 31, 2020.
Holidays at Disneyland
The holidays at Disneyland are super magical. I love heading to Disneyland during this time as it always gets me in the Holiday spirit. The parks go all out for the holidays, decorating almost every land, holding the Festival of Holidays, parades, special fireworks and more.
The holidays at Disneyland begin around the second week in November and continue through the first week of January.
