Disneyland Packing List Must-Haves

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

What do you absolutely need to include on a Disneyland packing list? What can you leave
behind so you have room in your luggage to bring home souvenirs? These are the questions
we’re all faced with before leaving on vacation!

Disneyland Packing List

Thanks to the travel experts at Get Away Today, I have a Disneyland packing list that you can
refer to before you head out on your next magical vacation. Between them, and what I have added in, I think we have you covered with what to bring to Disneyland for your vacation.

What To Bring To Disneyland – The Basics

Of course, any packing list has the most basic items on it. I won’t go into a lot of detail on these items, instead I will put a quick list of them right here for you.

Typical Packing List Items:

  • T-Shirts
  • Shorts/Pants
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Pajamas
  • Shoes
  • Toiletries
  • Makeup
  • Hairbrush
  • Hair ties
  • Cooling towels
  • Hoodies/Sweaters
  • Travel documents
  • Charging cords for devices

Disneyland Packing List – Must Haves

Of course, depending on the size of your family and ages of everyone traveling to Disneyland,
your list may need some altering. However, this list of things to bring to Disneyland is pretty universal.

Disneyland Tickets

DO NOT wait to purchase your tickets at Disneyland Resort. Buy them
ahead of time from Get Away Today and save compared to gate prices! Use my code,
ThisCrazy10 to save an additional $10 when you book your vacation package with Get
Away today.

After purchase, they send you e-tickets that you cannot lose, which you can scan
at the ticket turnstile of the Resort. At that point you’ll be given paper tickets that you can scan
into the Disneyland app for ease of use.

Snacks

Did you know you can bring your own food and drink into Disneyland? You can pack it
in your bag to carry throughout the day, or even rent a locker inside the Parks or in the Disneyland picnic area.

As long as youdon’t bring in glass containers or loose ice, you’re good to go! (Those items are banned in Disney Parks) Refillable water bottles are a must, and you can request free ice water from every restaurant through the Resort.

Sunscreen/Hats

Whether you pack in a bottle or travel-sized pouches, sunscreen is a must-
have on any Disneyland packing list. Protect your skin so you can spend more time enjoying
yourself while on vacation instead of worrying about sunburns.

Hats are also important, and there’s nothing quite as refreshing on a hot day as wetting your hat with ice water and placing it on your head!

Hand Sanitizer/Wipes

Along the same lines as sunscreen, bring antibacterial wipes or hand
cleaner with you. Part of the magic of Disneyland is interacting with fixtures, ride elements and
even Disney Characters. Having sanitizer in your bag means you have quick access to clean
hands before you have a bite to eat.

Camera/Charger

Whether you’re taking photos with your phone or a camera, bring back up
batteries or portable chargers! My personal favorites are Fuel Rods simply for convenience, but I also love a good Jackery Charger.

Multiple Shoes

A great tip when vacationing at Disneyland is to bring a couple of pairs of
comfortable walking shoes for everyone so you can alternate between the two.

Another reason it is good to have two pairs of shoes for Disneyland is for if they get too wet to wear on a water ride.

Disneyland Packing List – Good to Have

The travel specialists at Get Away Today think the following items are good to have, although
you can have a fantastic vacation without them!

Ticket Lanyard

Did you know when you book a Disneyland vacation package with Get Away Today you can pick up a complimentary lanyard at your hotel?

You’ll be sent a voucher that you can use to redeem a lanyard for every member of your family. They’re handy to carrying your physical tickets around, including Disneyland tickets and shuttle tickets.

Rain Poncho

Depending on when you travel, you may encounter rain in Anaheim. Disneyland in the rain can actually be pretty amazing, so if it’s in the forecast, just pack a poncho!

Light Layers

Again, this depends on the time of year you take your vacation. While Anaheim
is lovely most of the year, it can be cool in the mornings/evenings. Having a light layer is helpful
so you can stay warm in cooler temps, but can easily stash the extra clothes in your bag when it
heats up outside. Also, some indoor attractions have really good AC and you may enjoy having
a light jacket for those.

Autograph Book

If getting Disney Character autographs is part of the fun for your family, be
sure to bring some sort of autograph book and large pen or marker with you. Remember that
many Characters have large hands and can offer better signatures with a sharpie versus a
traditional pen.

If autograph books are not your thing, there are plenty of alternatives to Disneyland Autograph Books. Get creative and get those autographs.

Souvenirs

This is a pretty great tip, but is not a must have on your Disneyland packing list. If
you have young kids in Disneyland, you may want to purchase Disney merchandise before you
travel. Why are Disney items on a list of what to bring to Disneyland?

By doing this you’ll have small items such as Disney-themed treats, slap bracelets, keychains,
magnets, glow sticks or figurines that you can hand out when you think it’s a good time. It gives kids little surprises and keeps them from begging for toys. Plus, it’s a great way to save money on Disneyland!

Lightweight Blanket/Sheet

If seeing shows and parades is part of your Disneyland
experience, you’ll want an easy-to-carry/stow blanket or sheet. While it’s possible to save a spot
for yourself simply by standing along the parade route, having a blanket to lay out can give you
a little more breathing room. Plus it makes it so you don’t have to sit on the cold, sometimes wet or dirty, cement.

Disneyland Packing List – Can Do Without

This section of the Disneyland packing list is a little tricky… it’s not that you absolutely do not
need some of these items, but it’s possible you can avoid packing them in your suitcase. Just hear us out and then make the decision of what is best for your family.

Diapers

If you have kids in diapers, you can probably get by without packing a big box of them
in your suitcase. Just pack as many as you think you’ll need for your travel day, and make
arrangements to have more delivered to your hotel!

Whether you choose to coordinate an Amazon delivery with the hotel’s front desk, or utilize the many grocery delivery services in Anaheim, you can forego hauling diapers to Disneyland.

Stroller

Yes, a stroller for Disneyland is often a must-have for families. However, you can rent
strollers from Disneyland or nearby vendors.

When you choose an outside service for your stroller rental, they can often deliver to your hotel so you still have use of a stroller is you’re walking to and from the Resort. If you don’t want to pack a stroller for your road trip, or check one at the airport, consider renting one in Anaheim.

My personal favorite is to rent a stroller from City Stroller Rentals. We use them every single trip!

Selfie-Stick

Did you know selfie-sticks aren’t actually allowed in the Disneyland Resort? Yep, they are one of the items banned at Disney. For that reason, leave yours at home during your vacation.

You’re sure to find other guests willing to take photos for you, or you can take advantage of talented PhotoPass Photographers throughout the Parks. They’re usually more than happy to use your phone or camera to snap a quick picture for you, or PhotoPass photos are also included with the cost of your MaxPass at Disneyland.

Photopass Photographers are always happy to take your picture with your camera as well as with their own.

Free Printable: Simple Disneyland Packing List

I wanted to create a printable packing list for you guys, but one thing I always dislike about those printable packing lists is HOW MUCH is on there that I don’t need.

So I set out to create a simple packing list, but one that would still cover everything you need. I think I did a pretty good job and hope you enjoy this printable.

  1. Great ideas Thanks….question. Is there a hotel close to DL with a rooftop patio or restaurant where you can have supper with the kids and catch the fireworks?
