February at Disneyland is a season filled with food, love, and a surprisingly busy week… If you are thinking of going to Disneyland in February, whether this year or next, you will want to check out this guide.
Our monthly guides to Disneyland, give you a peek at annual trends for each month, followed by information specific to the current year. From crowd levels, to hours, to ride closures, we cover what to expect at Disneyland in February, and every month of the year.
Note: Year-specific information is updated in the weeks leading up to that month.
We will first cover the Annual Trends, and then, take on what to expect at Disneyland in February 2022.
Disneyland in February – Annual Trends
February is part of Disneyland’s “Slow Season” but that doesn’t mean you won’t have any crowds at all. In fact, there is a specific time of February that can often be quite crowded.
February also includes the end of one festival, and the lead-in to another, Valentine’s Day, and more.
Here is what you can expect if you are visiting Disneyland in February – no matter the year.
Crowd Levels at Disneyland in February
Typically, crowd levels at Disneyland in February are quite nice. Weekends and evenings do tend to be busier with locals coming to the park, but during the weekdays, you have low crowds and wait times… with one expectation.
Presidents’ Day & Ski Week
While crowds are typically low throughout the month, Presidents’ Day Weekend tends to see much larger crowds for the long weekend.
But a mistake a lot of people make is assuming the crowds will simply die down the day after Presidents’ Day to mimic what you may have seen earlier in the month.
Enter Ski Week – Many California and Arizona schools take a full week break for Presidents’ Day. Often called Ski Week, it is popular for locals to head a few hours away where they can hit some slopes. But for those who do not ski – a popular destination tends to be Disneyland.
I expect that this will be even more popular with the fact that the 2022 SoCal Ticket Offer blocks out weekends, so locals will be using this week to take advantage of the low prices of this ticket.
So if you are planning a visit this week, expect higher crowds than the rest of the month, though they will still be lower than Disneyland’s Spring Break crowds.
Park Hours at disneyland in february
Park hours at Disneyland in February vary greatly. In the beginning of the month, you will see shorter hours, sometimes as short as 9 am – 8 pm. Weekends tend to have an 11 pm or midnight closing still.
As we move into that popular ski week, hours increase again to 10, 11 or even midnight closings. Be sure to check the yearly specific hours farther down in this article.
Weather at Disneyland in February
The weather in February in Southern California can be fickle. You may have days in the 80s, and days in the low 60s.
Be prepared when packing for Disneyland, by including layers of clothing. Monitor the weather in the days leading up to your vacation.
No matter the forecast, you will want a jacket or hoodie for the evenings, as the cool breeze really can hit you after the sun sets in the evening.
Annual events at disneyland in february
Here are some events you can look forward to when visiting Disneyland in February each year:
Lunar New Year Celebration
The Lunar New Year Celebration at California Adventure typically begins in January, and wraps up by mid-February. This celebration includes a food festival, character meet and greets and more.
Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is usually a pretty simple celebration with a few decorations on Main Street USA, and some cute photo spots.
After Dark Event – Sweethearts’ Nite
After Dark Events are back at Disneyland, we see the return of Sweetheart’s Nite in February. This event is an extra ticketed event and takes place after park closing.
Food and Wine Festival
Some years, Food and Wine Festival will open at the very end of February. If not, you will at least see festival kiosks begin to be set up, among other things. If you want to be sure to hit Food and Wine Festival, plan a Disneyland vacation in March or early April.
Rides and Entertainment at Disneyland in February
February continues the season of rides being closed for refurbishments and maintenance at Disneyland. Typically, both Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Run remained closed for their annual maintenance. Other rides will close for a few days to a few weeks here and there.
Entertainment options are also lower during the month of February. Fireworks are often only offered on the weekends. During the week, you may get a show with projections and lights, depending on which Firework show is live during the month.
Nighttime spectacular, if running, will also be limited to the weekends, but often, they are also closed during this time for revamping, maintenance and more.
During 2022, we have not had World of Color or Fantasmic return yet, but I wanted to make sure this was noted for those planning for future years.
Disneyland in February 2022 – Your Guide For THIS Year
If you are visiting Disneyland in February 2022, here is everything you need to know for this year. I have included health guidelines, park hours, ride closures, and more! Be sure to bookmark this page if you are planning a February 2022 visit.
February 2022 guidelines
At this time, Disneyland is requiring all guests, regardless of vaccination status to mask indoors unless actively eating or drinking. The state of California has also reinstated an indoor mask mandate, currently in effect through February 15, 2022. This means that regardless of vaccination status, you will need to mask at all indoor locations at hotels (except within your hotel room), stores, and beyond.
Super Bowl Sunday 2022 at Disneyland
Super Bowl Sunday is always a risk when you go to Disneyland. There have been years the parks are empty (usually when a California-based team is playing) and years it has been busy.
2022 is a year I would not even try to predict what the parks will be like. With the Super Bowl taking place in Los Angeles, Disneyland is hosting several Super Bowl-related activities throughout the resort.
Super Bowl Sunday is February 13, 2022
Here is the information released from Disney about live productions taking place February 9 – 13, 2022.
- Wednesday, Feb. 9, through Friday, Feb. 11, at select times from 12-6 p.m. PT
- Saturday, Feb. 12, at select times from 12-2 p.m. PT, and approximately 6 p.m. PT
- Sunday, Feb. 13 from 8-11 a.m. PT.
There will be many favorite ESPN personalities on site including Hall of Famer Randy Moss, Super Bowl Champions Tedy Bruschi, Ryan Clark, Booger McFarland, and others.
Not going to lie, this makes me a bit nervous as I have a trip planned during this time.
Lunar New Year 2022
Lunar New Year continues at Disneyland Resort through February 13, 2022 (Super Bowl Sunday). The event includes a food festival, entertainment, crafts, and more.
You can listen to the Disneyland with Kids Podcast Episode where Jessica and I report live from Lunar New Year 2022 to learn more.
Sweethearts’ Nite – or Nites
In February, Disneyland will see the return of the Sweethearts’ Nite(s) After Dark Event. This event is sold out, but it is important to note if they are scheduled during your visit.
There are five parties in the first half of February (which you can see on the calendar below). On these nights, Disneyland park closes at 7 pm, and guests who did not purchase an event ticket will be expected to exit the park. Please note: you are not being kicked out early… the park closes at 7 pm.
Those who purchased tickets will be able to enjoy lower crowds, special character sitings, and other offerings from 8 pm until midnight.
Note that the party attendees may begin mixing into Disneyland at 5 pm, so crowds will pick up at this time.
If you are in the parks on a party night, and were planning on simply parkhopping to the other park, just know that the other park only closes an hour later, and that it will most likely be very crowded for the same reason you are thinking of going over there.
Park Hours at Disneyland in February 2022
Park hours will vary greatly throughout the month. Between hours where the park closes early for Sweethearts’ Nites, special events, ski week… it varies so much I can’t do my normal table format. So instead, I have this image. If you prefer to have a PDF of the calendar emailed to you, you can get it by joining my newsletter list below. It will automatically be emailed to you after you join.

Ride Closures at Disneyland February 2022
Here is a list of known ride closures for Disneyland Resort in February 2022. Please note that this list is subject to change.
A few attractions are listed as closed, but then come back for a day or two, and then are closed again for an amount of time. I am not sure if this is accurate, or if they missed some attractions on the Disneyland website.
Also the random daily closures of the Mark Twain Riverboat could be due to staffing, Super Bowl festivities, or (fingers crossed) preparation for the return of Fantasmic!
